As noted in the section on general activities, Census Management is important to success of any census. We have used the UN Management Handbook as a guide to develop Powerpoint slides (which are included here) to assist in regional and within-country workshops to introduce new and experienced staff to the various aspects of the census program. It is important to have specialized staff for the various activities, but those staff should have general knowledge of the many census activities that together make a successful census. It is also important to train “generalists” who fully understand how the various pieces fit together.
