  • Dissemination

Dissemination is the most important part of the census for the various public and private sector users, so considerable thought must be given to the best methods of providing the census results to the users. In addition to straight tabulations, various other products should be standard – a general report and detailed specific reports on various topics – as well as user-defined single request requirements, like specific tables, maps, graphs, or other products.

Various types of dissemination – on paper, electronic media, and the internet – are presented in this section. Parts of the Tabulation Handbook are presented to assist in making decisions about the kinds and extent of dissemination. A document described how to develop and use the CSPro Table Retrieval System (TRS) is included. Another document, discussing development of Public Use Microdata Samples (PUMS) is also included.
